Day #148/365- This Is What August 1st Looks Like...

This is what August 1st looks like when you are a teacher:
August 1st means three things:
(1) Summer is almost over.
(2) School is going to start soon.
(3) Faces like this become an everyday occurrence as reality sets in that the carefree, unscheduled, laid back days are coming to an end.

Keeping with the theme of my blog, however, I HAVE to find a Sunnyside or I will have failed for the day.  So here it is.  August 1st means three things: ~THE REVISED EDITION~ (1) Football season is right around the corner.  YES!!!  (2) My Birthday is getting closer and closer.  Now that I've accepted that I am in my 30's (yikes- slight cringe as I wrote that), the celebration will be less shocking and more joyful!  (3) All of my favorite shows will come back on the air with new episodes!  Of course when I actually have the time to stay up late and watch them, they aren't on!?!  So typical!  LOL

So yes- August is here and I have to accept it.  My shocked, surprised and saddened expressions will quickly turn back to smiles as I reunite with my colleagues, meet my new students and get back to the normal, working life.  And just like I said yesterday, everything will be fine.  Just fine.  Perfectly fine.

  1. Hi! I've found your lovely blog thru NFF & I'm now following you. Pleased to meet you!

Both my sister and her new hubby are teachers so will definitey sympathise with your August woes! ;)

For me, August heralds the busiest time for me at work, and I just know that MAJOR stress is round the corner!...

...on the plus side, Lost Final Season DVD is out next month! Yay! :D

  2. I remember those days. Now that I am a mother, though, my smile is growing by the minute. You see my little Bear will start all day Kindergarten this year. I know I will miss my little buddy, but I am SO looking forward to having some uninterrupted ME time to get things done around here. Probably should let my husband know that the DO NOT DISTURB sign is up during the day, but as a farm wife, I am at everyone's beck and call once harvest starts.

  4. I hear ya! Both of my parents were teachers, so those feelings happened every year like clockwork. I just turned 30 this past year too, and it's not so bad, eh? I feel much more wise and sophisticated :-) Agree w/ all 3 of your things too look forward to - bring on the fall!

  5. Yes ma'am, everything will be fine. Here's another "Sunnyside"...soon it won't be so stinkin' HOT outside! OK that's MY sunnyside...

Your pics cracked me up! I know it's hard to give up the lazy days of summer, but I also enjoy getting back to routine a bit too.

Happy Sunday and "first day of August"!

  7. Way to stick to the sunny side of life! My daughter is experiencing some of the same emotions your pics display. She's having a hard time finding the sunny side of life in junior high school. Once school is underway and she meets her new teachers and a few new friends, she'll be fine. Just fine. Perfectly fine. -EW
